Project Spotlight - Lehman's Antique Heart Pine Reclaimed Wood Flooring
Northeast Ohio is home to one of the nation's most unique stores - Lehman's. What started out in 1955 as a small store has grown to be a nationally and internationally renowned hub of products reminiscent of a simpler time. Centered around an 1840s barn, Lehman's interior is just as unique as its products. When it needed custom-made Reclaimed Wood Flooring in its design, Olde Wood was tasked with the job.
Deep in the heart of Amish Country in Northeast Ohio is a store that will make you think you’ve stepped back in time a few decades. Lehman’s in Kidron, Ohio began in 1955 as a small hardware store but has since transformed into something much bigger.
Lehman’s provides thousands of items reminiscent of a simpler time. When the store first opened, it was meant to serve the local Amish community, and it is now the “largest purveyor of historical technology”. With everything from hand-crank blenders to good ole' fashioned wooden toys, everyone from different walks of life will find something of interest.
Not only does Lehman's serve customers reminiscent of years past, it also has one-of-a-kind products for eco-friendly fanatics, gardeners, survivalists, and those who want to live off-the-grid. These products are in-demand both nationally and internationally and even found their way into Hollywood films like “The Assassination of Jessie James”, “War of the Worlds”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and “Gangs of New York”.
An 1840s barn is very appropriately found at the center of the store, and its interior is just as unique as Lehman's merchandise. Last year, Lehman’s needed reclaimed antique hardwood flooring and Olde Wood was tasked with the job. The result is a radiant, custom-made wide plank floor with character to match its surroundings.
A testament to the enduring legacy of America’s Industrial Revolution, our hard-wearing Reclaimed Antique Heart Pine flooring has been reclaimed from the factories and mills that powered our nation’s manufacturing base. Lehman’s ordered a combination of 5” specified width unfinished planks and 3” – 6” random width unfinished planks to compliment their previously installed hardwood floor.
The deep character of the Antique Heart Pine Common Grade reclaimed flooring, with its nail holes, checking, knotholes and other characteristics, is a testament to reborn history – just like Lehman’s.
